The media portrays these dogs in the way that there is no nice side to them and that they’re purely vicious and due to this this has led to a drastic increase in dogs like these going into animal shelters and has equally left them with a negative name.

It is our aim to educate you further on this topic that dogs like Staffordshire Bull Terriers are in-fact beautiful four legged friends and that the true image of a dog is seen through the way they’re brought up and treated. Although, it is thoroughly understood some breeds have breed characteristics like the Jack Russell’s being known as ankle biters.
We spoke to RSCPA Vet Dr Gilet about his personal opinion as to why there has been such a drastic increase in dogs like Staffordshire Bull Terriers going into animal shelters… and this is what he said…

Here are some statistics on Staffordshire Bull Terriers…
The number of Staffordshire Bull Terriers has increased by 85% since 1996.
Out of 8,000 dogs based in a shelter in London 3,600 were Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
Last year 315 healthy Staffordshire Bull Terriers are put down.
Klaire Kennett from the RSCPA shelter in Potters Bar said one third of dogs they’re housing are Staffordshire Bull Terriers.

There are several shelters and charity organisations such as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Welfare Charity and the RSPCA which are set up to help dogs like Staffordshire Bull Terriers, many of which are very successful. They ask members of the public to donate several things such as blankets and food in aid to help these dogs have a fresh start and have a healthy upbringing where they’ll be loved and cared for instead of being looked at like a fashion accessory.
