Making of our New Channel Title Sequence!

Now that we have planned how we want our opening sequence to look we can now begin creating it onto Adobe Premiere. We began by looking at our storyboard so that we could use this plan as our template. Firstly, we uploaded the video footage from our filming at Pets at Home of the different animals onto the computer. We uploaded this footage to Adobe Premiere to begin editing and adapting our news sequence. We picked certain shots that we particularly liked most and dragged them so that we could see how it looked being played. We picked shots of animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other domestic animals. We decided each animal should have their own coloured background as it would then be more colourful and fun for children to watch. After picking the shots we liked the most we decided how many seconds each animal should be on screen for, which ended up only being a few seconds long so that we could fit a variety of animals in. The idea we wanted to create with this opening sequence was to have a montage of each animal moving, they also come up in different effects so that it would be much more eye-catching!

Here is a picture of us making our News Channel opening title sequence on Adobe Premiere editing software! Hard work and determination :)

Here is a screen shot of our work being produced on Adobe Premiere editing software, we have placed all the footage where we want them to be in the correct sequence and adapted the length of the clips too!

Planning and Making the music!

After planning and creating our opening sequence we now had to make the music, to fit in with our news channel. Because our news channel is about animals and aimed towards children, we felt as a group that we needed something that was upbeat and fun to draw them into watching the news channel. We all sat around the apple mac laptop, went onto GarageBand and began planning the music. Firstly, we looked at the different effects available on GarageBand. We played some of them so that we could find music that would fit well together and would be suitable for our news channel. After doing this we found three diferent music sounds that went well together. We dragged the music that we liked the most so that we could fit them as to how we wanted them to play. The first music played is called Chordal Synthany this was simply to begin our news article and plays throughout the whole sequence to give it a constant beat before more music was added in. We then added the Funky Guitar sound which gave the music a much more upbeat feel to it. This plays alongside the Chordal Synthany until the Funky Guitar stops and a Strummed acoustic sound plays until this stops and the Funky Guitar then plays again until the end and finishes it off. We felt that this combination of music was best for our news article as it sounded fun and not like a typical news channel therefore drawing in children to watch our news channel.

Here is a picture of us in lessons on the Mac Book using Garage Band to produce our music.

Here is a screen grab off of the Mac Book of our completed music which we will be putting in our News Channel opening title sequence. We sat together as a group to complete this within 1 lesson, we thoroughly like the tune and think it will fit in perfectly with our opening title sequence aimed at children.

Planning our Opening Title Sequence.

In order to plan our opening sequence we discussed where and what we were going to film. As a group we went to Pets at Home to look at the different types of animals there. This was to get an idea of what animals we would like to include in our opening sequence. We chose to film animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, different types of fish, gerbils and other pets that we saw there. We filmed a short clip of each of these animals so we could make a montage of them into our title sequence with a different coloured background for each animal clip. We agreed as a group that this idea would be the best one to suit our target audience and the animal theme as it showed a range of different animals. To see what our idea would look like on paper we drew a storyboard showing what the montage of animals would look like in colour and how it would be seen one after the other. This then gave us a clear idea of how our opening sequence would look like in a clear and colourful way. Everyone in the group liked the look of how the sequence came out, including the animals and colours which then meant we could then create this idea on to the computer using Adobe Premier editing software and adapting from our simple storyboard idea.

Here is a photo of our completed storyboard which we will be using throughout the making of our News Channel opening title sequence. It pictures a variety of domestic animals/pets including rabbits, hamsters, fish and so on.

Adaptions to our logo!

Having now produced our logo and handing out a sample of 10 questionnaires and getting some personal opinions back we decided to adapt our logo. 3 out of 8 participants who liked our logo stated they didn't understand what 'RAFA' stood for, due to this we have decided to use the 'Horizontal Type Mask Tool' available on Photoshop software to add 'Raising Awareness For Animals' underneath the bright blue sign 'RAFA' so it is clearly understood by all who watch the programme. The writing is in 'Cooper Std' font, in Italics (size 18). It is eye catching and smart and we hope our adaptions are liked!

Here is our Questionnaire that we handed out to a small sample of Year 7 students.
We used the 'Horizontal Type Mask Tool' to adapt our News Channel Logo on Photoshop.

Here is our completed News Channel Logo, we took into account all comments made by the Year 7 students. We adapted our Logo successfully and produced an even better one!

Thanks!

Planning and Producing our Logo.

Hi there, As a team we produced and put together a variety of different logos which we thought would fit in with our news channel package, RAFA (Raising Awareness For Animals). Having had a long discussion and debate on which one suited best, we picked our favourite one and now it was time for us to produce it.

As a team we sat down around the school computer and used Photoshop to begin producing our logo, using our own opinions, we produced a logo we all liked! The first step was using the 'Type Mask Tool' which showed you a variety of different fonts the software had available, when using this tool we had to take into account the font which must be bold and eye catching as our news channel was aimed at kids. We picked two different fonts, 'Copperplate Gothic Light' and 'Cooper Std' one being used for 'RAFA' and the other for 'NEWS'. We then had to decide on effective colours which was listed on the 'set foreground colour' graph where we managed to pick out a nice bright blue and a deep black. After this we had to design what we wanted to be around the logo writing such as images, we decided to  use pictures of little animals both domestic and wild which we managed to get off of Google however it was the hard decision of WHICH animals to picture! We then listed a variety of different animals which we liked and thought would be relevant and we then picked out our favourite 5 ours being a squirrel, puppy, eagle, kitten and frog. The next step was then deciding where to place them! With access to the 'Move Tool' we moved the images around into several different positions until we decided and approved of where they should be set. Having thought through this we managed to place all animals nicely around our logo producing a nice eye catching kiddy image which we were proud of.

Questionnaire.

We put time and effort in to produce a questionnaire on Microsoft Word to find out more information on our target audience, ours being young children aged between 11 - 13 year olds. We handed out a small sample of 10 questionnaires to Year 7 students at Mill Hill County High School to find out more information on the types of News Channel programmes they watched on a regular basis and whether they had any interests in any Animal Programmes which was our main aim. Having completed our questionnaire successfully we found out that the majority of our participants did watch animals programmes on a regular basis and had a liking towards our idea and stated they enjoy 'learning' about animals. Having successfully completed this our next step was to produce a sufficient logo which would go with our news channel RAFA, Raising Awareness For Animals.

Here is our Questionnaire which we presented to our small sample of Year 7 students at Mill Hill County High School.
It was neat, easy and simple to understand and we collected some positive feed back from this.

Emma Amundsen Porter; Introduction.

Hi, my name is Emma. I studied Media last year and enjoyed the tasks I completed within my group. I was partnered with two other people, Kenneth Vessey and Danielle Price, where we had to make a thriller opening sequence. I played one of the main protagonist within this. The name of our thriller opening sequence was 'Life After Death'. Throughout the task I learnt a variety of skills using Adobe Premier editing software, Photo shop, Garage Band and using the Mac Books. These skills will now help me during the A2 task based on a local news channel called RAFA (Raising Awareness For Animals). Within my group I will work alongside Kenneth Vessey and Natalie Woolnough and the roles that we play shall be spread equally so that all our skills can help in making the local news channel report.

Hi Guys, it's me! :)

Thanks,
Emma Amundsen Porter.

Kenneth Vessey; Introduction.

Hi there, My name is Kenneth Vessey and I studied Media last year as an AS student at Mill Hill County High School where I thoroughly enjoyed the course and learnt several different skills! I was set the task in class to produce a Thriller Opening Sequence, mine named 'Life After Death' where I was partnered with two close class mates, this was completed successfully.

Throughout the making of this I learnt several skills alongside using Adobe Premier editing software, Photo shop and Garage Band on the Mac Books, all of these will greatly benefit me within A2 where I have been set the task to make a news package, mine being called 'RAFA' standing for Raising Awareness For Animals, whilst doing so I will be working alongside Emma Porter and Natalie Woolnough where we will complete this task to the best of our ability. All work will be distributed equally upon one another and all of our skills will be intertwined into the project.

Throughout doing Media as an A Level my main love has been editing, using Adobe Premier editing software and organising and producing clips. Hopefully throughout the news package I will be able to continue doing this alongside my other team members. Alongside editing I also enjoy doing the auto, using garage band and producing music for our clips.

Hi Guys, it's me! :)

Introduction to the Assessment Brief.

Hi Guys!

For our A2 Media Coursework we were asked to produce a production portfolio of which includes us making an opening title sequence for our local television programmed based on our chosen topic, ours being animals. We have chosen our target audience of children and will be including information based around domestic pets such as dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and so on. We have decided to name ours news programme; Raising Awareness For Animals trying to educate and change the view of certain animals such as Staffordshire Bull Terriers and so on.

In order to complete our opening title sequence we will be using Adobe Preimer editing software and Photoshop of which we will use our knowledge from previous tasks to do this. Alongside this we will also be producing a news channel package and a website too!

Keep tuned for further information on our progress!

It's us! Natalie Woolnough, Kenneth Vessey and Emma Porter :)

Thanks!
